On June 22, 2009, the FCC issued a Memorandum Opinion and Order, finding that a licensee lacked the requisite character qualifications because of his felony theft conviction for altering checks written to the station and depositing the checks into his own accounts. The licensee's renewal application had previously been dismissed for his failure to make an appearance at a hearing regarding his character qualifications and other rule violations. In light of the cancellation of the station license, the Commission determined that further forfeitures were not necessary. The Order is available here.
