The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) this week postponed the effective date of its regulation requiring most private employers in the United States to post an 11-by-17-inch notice informing employees of their rights under the National Labor Relations Act.

The effective date was moved from November 14, 2011 to January 31, 2012.

The proposed rule has been controversial, with opposition coming from some business groups and members of Congress. In its announcement, the NLRB said the date has been pushed back “in order to allow for enhanced education and outreach to employers, particularly those who operate small and medium sized businesses.”
