Broadband and telephone providers must file reports with the FCC twice every year to provide data on the number and location of customers served and other information about the services. The next report is due to the FCC by Sept. 1, and the electronic system is now ready to accept the current round of reports.

The following entities are required to file this report:

  • All facilities-based providers of broadband connections to end-users
  • All local exchange carriers (ILECs and CLECs, including resellers)
  • All interconnected voice over Internet protocol (interconnected VoIP) providers
  • Most commercial mobile radio service (CMRS) providers

As detailed in previous advisories (Feb. 4, 2009, and Feb. 25, 2009), broadband service providers must report data by census tract and interconnected VoIP providers must submit a list of zip codes in which they have at least one subscriber.

The form and additional information are available on the FCC’s Web site.
