HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has issued an update on the deadline for when Trustee or Company Service Providers (TCSPs) will have to register with HMRC. Under the Money Laundering Regulations 2007 some trustees may fall under the definition for TCSPs and be required to register with HMRC (for background see EPB bulletin 25 February 2008).
Following its update in May 2008 (see EPB bulletin 14 May 2008) HMRC has provided another update confirming that it is still in the process of updating its registration guideline (MLR 9).
HMRC has again advised that:
- TCSPs should not yet send any form to HMRC; and
- the new application deadline will be a minimum of four weeks from the date on which the updated guidance is published
