Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-PA), Chairman of the House Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee, said on April 24 that TRIA has increased the supply and affordability of terrorism risk insurance but that the marketplace remains "tenuous" for insurers. He called for reauthorizing TRIA for six to eight years. Kanjorski favors including group life coverage as well as coverage for nuclear, biological, chemical, and radiological losses. Both Kanjorski and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-CT) have said they support moving a TRIA extension (it expires at the end of 2007) before the August recess.
