According to data released by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), Ohio's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for July increased 0.1 percent from its July rate of 7.2 percent. The U.S. unemployment rate dropped from 7.4 percent in July to 7.3 percent in August, which is down from 8.1 percent in August 2012. The number of unemployed workers in Ohio increased 3,000 since July, to 419,000. During that time, the state's nonagricultural wage and salary employment decreased by 8,200.
