EU president Donald Tusk is holding meetings this week with EU leaders and with the European Parliament in order to secure a broad political support on the British deal agreed last week with David Cameron. Mr Tusk has acknowledged that there is opposition to the proposed reforms, saying it was "a very fragile political process". Meanwhile, the six founding members of the EU reiterated their commitment this week to "ever closer union", even it means leaving less enthusiastic partners like the UK behind, which has demanded an opt-out from this principle as part of its reforms.
