The ICO has launched a consultation on a new draft code of practice on subject access requests. The 60-page draft code is intended to replace a number of existing pieces of guidance available on the ICO website (eg. ‘subject access and employment references’ and ‘dealing with subject access requests involving other people’s information’). The code includes various examples of how subject access rules work in practice, and discusses special cases and the statutory exemptions.

The closing date for this consultation is 21 February 2013, with the ICO aiming to publish a final version of the code by April 2013.

The draft Code of Practice can be accessed here, with the consultation available here.
