A court clerk has become the first person to be prosecuted and convicted under the Bribery Act 2010. The former magistrate’s clerk was prosecuted for accepting a £500 bribe not to record a road traffic offence. The maximum conviction for this offence is 10 years’ imprisonment. Sentencing will take place on 11 November 2011.
