The Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) has published its comments on the European Commission's Green Paper on Corporate Governance and Financial Institutions and Remuneration Policies. The CEBS welcomes the Green Paper but has warned that in order to exercise sound supervision and to intensify supervision even more, supervisory authorities must have sufficient resources. It also expressed concerns about the limitation of the number of boards on which a director may sit as this may not ensure sufficient time is devoted and might contradict the principle of proportionality.
