Food safety officials in Hungary are to increase checks on domestic food producers following the discovery of over 100 tons of food products labelled with fraudulent sell-by dates. The repackaged goods, ranging from Muesli to chocolate, were seized at a warehouse in the city of Torokbalint where they were being stored by M.E.G.A. Trade group for onward sale to retailers. As a result, retailers were forced to remove all M.E.G.A. products from their shelves.
