The leading international insolvency practitioners and thought leaders in the world will convene for the 11th Annual Conference of the International Insolvency Institute at Columbia University in New York on June 13-14, 2011. The Conference will feature reports and analyses of the world’s most important current international insolvency issues and controversies described by speakers who are recognized globally as preeminent in their field.

Authoritative multinational panels will analyze and describe major international cases and developments including the Lehman Brothers insolvency, insolvencies of major financial institutions (Too Big to Fail); responsibilities of directors and officers in insolvency situations; sales of business in insolvency proceedings worldwide; de-investment strategies for investments in China; coordination of international corporate group insolvencies, sovereign debt implications from the Eurozone, contrasting reorganizational systems, the use of ADR in international insolvencies, international insolvencies of Latin American companies and developments in Court-to-Court coordination of multinational cases.

The Conference’s Keynote Speaker will be Gillian Tett, the United States Managing Editor for The Financial Times who is the award-winning journalist who predicted the global crisis two years before it actually hit. A Conference highlight will be the presentation of the III’s 2011 Outstanding Contributions Award to Hon. Burton R. Lifland of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York in recognition of Judge Lifland’s life-long accomplishments, achievements and contributions to the international and domestic insolvency restructuring areas. The presentation of the Outstanding Contributions Award and the Conference’s Legendary New York Dinner will take place aboard the luxury yacht Lady Windridge on a cruise around Manhattan, stopping for refreshments beneath the Statute of Liberty.
