Australian voters will head to the polls on 14 October 2023 to vote on the Voice to referendum. The Australian Electoral Commission has now released the referendum pamphlet, setting out the arguments for and against the question:
‘A proposed law: To alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. Do you approve this proposed alteration?’
The Yes case and the No case have been published without amendment by the Australian Electoral Commission. It is therefore important to remember to consider each side’s arguments to ensure that you are well informed going into this referendum.
