The White House announced yesterday that Melissa Hathaway, who served as Cyber coordination Executive to the Director of National Intelligence, will lead a "review of the plan, programs, and activities underway throughout the government dedicated to cyber security." Although many reviews of this type have likely already been done (leading, at least in part it would seem, to the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative (CNCI)), this review will hopefully lead to action by the Obama administration in response to the many recommendations it has received related to cyber security. Perhaps most crucial will be whether the review leads to the establishment of an office for cyberspace resident in the Executive Office of the President, as has been recommended by a number of groups including the Commission on Cybersecurity for the 44th Presidency.
