On August 17, 2009, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) announced that it is conducting investigations into the effects of two proposed modifications to the North American Freed Trade Agreement rules of origin for certain textiles. The investigations, which were initiated pursuant to a request by the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), concern: (1) certain textiles containing rayon and other manmade fibers and (2) certain textiles containing acrylic and modacrylic fibers. ITC has requested that any interested parties submit written comments by October 2, 2009.
