Presently only parents of children up to the age of 6 (or of disabled children up to the age of 18) can request flexible working. The Government has launched consultation to establish whether flexible working rights should be extended to all parents of children up to and under the age of 16. The consultation also seeks views on whether to abolish the requirement to send written acceptance of an employee’s request. Consultation ends on 18 November 2008.
