The Portuguese banks expect to sell, this year, about ten thousand properties, four thousand more than last year, thus, representing 22% of the Portuguese real estate market. According to estimates of the Association of the Real estate professionals and companies of Portugal, the Portuguese Banks have, at least, twenty thousand new houses for sale.

The strong increase of the offer results of the needs felt by the banking entities to, increasingly, dispose this type of assets in pursuing their activities. In this sense, the goal of the banks has been to boost demand, namely by applying high discounts in the sale price of the houses.

Said policy intends to recover the real estate market in Portugal, giving it the liquidity and strength necessary for the recovery of prices and the national construction and rehabilitation sectors.
