BANKING Treasury Committee inquiries closed in May 2017 due to general election

The House of Commons Treasury Committee has updated several webpages announcing inquiries closed on 3 May 2017 due to the general election. The inquiries cannot be re-opened but the committee may choose to hold another inquiry on the subjects in the future. If it does so, it may refer to the evidence gathered in previous parliaments. The closed inquiries are:

  • the retail banking market review
  • inquiry into capital
  • UK's future economic relationship with EU
  • Maxwellisation inquiry

EBA publishes indicators from 35 G-SIIs: August 2017

The EBA has published a webpage providing indicators from 35 global systemically important institutions (G-SIIs) in the EU, as provided for in the implementing technical standards (ITS) and guidelines on disclosure rules applicable to institutions whose leverage ratio exposure measure exceeds EUR 200 billion. The ITS and guidelines define uniform requirements for disclosing the values used during the identification and scoring process of G-SIIs. This is in line with the internationally agreed standards developed by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS).

Treasury Committee inquiry on EU insurance regulation under Solvency II Directive closed in May 2017 due to general election

The House of Commons Treasury Committee has updated its webpage announcing the inquiry on EU insurance regulation under Solvency II Directive closed on 3 May 2017 due to the general election. European Commission adopts Implementing Regulation on standardised presentation format for IPID under IDD

The European Commission has adopted Commission Implementing Regulation laying down implementing technical standards (ITS) on a standardised presentation format for the insurance product information document (IPID or PID) under the Insurance Distribution Directive. The Commission has issued a press release, explaining that the IPID will have to accompany all non-life insurance policies from February 2018. The new rules will provide consumers with all of the information they need to make informed decisions when buying insurance products.

INVESTMENTS AND FUNDS Responses to ESMA's consultation on RTS relating to trading obligations for derivatives under MiFIR

The ESMA has published responses it has received to its June 2017 consultation on trading obligations for derivatives under the Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation (MiFIR). A total of 29 responses have been published with respondents coming from Banking, Asset Management, Insurance, Investment and Regulated markets, exchanges & trading systems backgrounds.
