On November 6, 2009, the Commission entered into a Consent Decree with the licensee of noncommercial educational stations in Southampton and Brookville, New York, ending an investigation into possible violations of the Commission's underwriting rules. On September 25, 2009, the Commission entered into a Consent Decree with the licensee of a noncommercial educational station in Cedar Creek, Florida, ending an investigation into violations of the same rule. Under the Commission's underwriting rules, noncommercial broadcast stations are prohibited from airing underwriting announcements that constitute advertisements benefiting for-profit entities. Station contributors may receive on-air acknowledgement of their support for "identification purposes only." The New York licensee agreed to a voluntary contribution of $24,000, and the Florida licensee agreed to make a voluntary contribution of $3,500. The Consent Decrees are available here and here.
