The Traditional Chinese Medicine Law of the People’s Republic of China was enacted on December 25th, 2016 and will come into force on July 1st, 2017. The Traditional Chinese Medicine Law is a milestone in China’s legal development that provides comprehensive protection for traditional Chinese medicine. The law covers medical services; the protection and development of Chinese medicine, the education of professional talent; scientific research; heritage and cultural transmission and protection; supporting measures, and legal obligations. The new law clearly details the establishment and improvement of the regulatory system governing traditional Chinese medicine, IPR protection, non-governmental operation of medical institutions and full supply chain quality control of medical materials.
