The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) has asked the Canadian government to include measures in the upcoming 2009 budget that would encourage the development of large scale carbon capture and storage technology. CAPP recommends that the government ensure tax deductibility of the cost of greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, expand the capitol cost allowance to include CCS, and increase public funding for CCS projects. The new budget is expected to be released at the end of January.
