The Washington Department of Ecology has adopted a final ruling which will allow the state to carry out its Children’s Safe Product Act, which we have blogged about previously. The rule allows the state to collect information on chemicals and requires manufacturers of children’s products to report if their products contain certain dangerous chemicals. The rule covers manufacturers of toys, cosmetics, jewelry and baby products. The Department of Ecology should receive its first reports in 2012, with manufactures reporting on a phased-in schedule.
