The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has published a call for evidence on the regulatory differences between occupational and workplace personal pensions.
In face of the introduction of auto-enrolment in 2012, the DWP is seeking to gather evidence on whether the regulatory differences between trust-based workplace personal pensions and contract-based occupational pension schemes are consistent with the aims of automatic enrolment. Its primary concern is to ensure successful implementation of auto-enrolment, by addressing areas where regulatory differences may be exploited and seek solutions to avoid this.
Views are particularly welcome on the regulatory difference in the use of short service refunds, disclosure of information and trivial commutation.
The call for evidence runs until 18 April 2011.
