It was reported last month that an official of Urban Development Project was arrested by Lokayukta Police while he was accepting a bribe. The director of a non-government organisation, Anita Yadav, lodged a complaint against Nirmal Kumar Jain for demanding a bribe. Lokayukta Police laid a trap with the help of Ms Yadav, who went to the house of Jain and offered Rs 20,000 to the official.

The CBI has arrested an executive engineer of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for allegedly accepting a bribe for granting a contract to a company for the construction of a high altitude road. Rakesh Babu Garg, Executive Engineer working in the office of Additional Director General CPWD Nirman Bhawan, was arrested by the CBI last month after raids were carried out by agency in an ongoing investigation into the case against officials of National Projects Construction Corporation (NPCC), which was awarded the contract for the road. It is reported that the CBI had earlier registered a case against the General Manager, J K Sinha of NPCC, Faridabad, his brother S K Sinha, a Ghaziabad based contractor, Joint GM of NPCC Dehrahun SK Sharma, Director of a Hyderabad-based company M V Rao and three others in the matter.
