The Maltese Parliament is currently debating Individual Investor Programme (IIP) amendments to the Citizenship Act (Cap 188 of the Laws of Malta).  Specifically, the government plans to introduce a new program available to individual investors, granting them a certificate of naturalization as a Citizen of Malta under certain conditions.

Under the IIP, individual investors will pay €650,000, as well as €25,000 for their spouses and individual children below 18 years of age; or €50,000 for dependant parents aged 55 or over and unmarried children aged between 18 and 25, in exchange for a certificate of naturalization.  Of that amount, €10,000 will be a non-refundable deposit.
