The European Commission (Commission) has sent a Statement of Objections (SO) to the Italian gas company, ENI. The SO sets out the Commission's allegations that ENI may have abused a dominant position in the Italian gas market by unreasonably refusing access to capacity on its transmission pipelines or hoarding such capacity and strategically limiting investment in the pipeline network to make it difficult for third parties suppliers to service the market. The SO sets out the Commission's initial concerns. ENI will now have an opportunity to respond to the allegations before any final decision is taken.
