The Committee on Industry, Research and Energy in the EP has published its opinion on the proposal for a Regulation on OTC derivatives, central counterparties and trade repositories (EMIR) for the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON). The opinion focuses on the use of financial instruments and markets by non-financial companies and the need to avoid overregulation for these market participants. On this basis, the report suggests ECON makes some clarifications and amendments to the original draft Regulation. (Source: Committee on Industry, Research and Energy report on EMIR)
