U.S. EPA announced the sentencing of a West Monroe, Louisiana owner and operator of a wastewater treatment plant on June 9, 2011. EPA reported that Mr. Jeffrey Pruitt was convicted in January 2011 by a federal jury for multiple violations of the Clean Water Act, including the failure to provide and maintain records, illegal discharges of pollutants, and improper operation and maintenance of the facility. He will serve 21 months in prison and was fined (with two of the companies he owns) $310,000.
