New European Directives on public procurement

The new legislative package for modernizing the European public procurement norms was published in  the Official Journal of the European Union no. L94 of March 28, 2014 and consists of three  directives, i.e.:

  1. Directive 2014/23/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of February 26, 2014  on the award of concession contracts;
  2. Directive 2014/24/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of February 26, 2014 on  public procurement and repealing Directive 2004/18/EC; and
  3. Directive 2014/25/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council  of  February  26,  2014  on  procurement by entities operating in the water, energy, transports and postal services sectors and  repealing Directive 2004/17/EC.

The new directives will become effective on the twentieth day as of its publication in the Official  Journal of the European Union, the Member States having a 24-month time limit to transpose them in  the national legislations.
