On December 11th, the Treasury Department designated two senior leaders of the Syrian-based al-Nusrah front, Maysar Ali Musa Abdallah al-Juburi and Anas Hasan Khattab, pursuant to Executive Order 13224 for acting on behalf of al-Qa'ida in Iraq. The Treasury Department also sanctioned two armed militia groups that operate under the control of the Syrian government, Jaysh al-Sha'bi and Shabiha, as well as two Shabiha commanders, pursuant to E.O. 13582, which blocks the property of the Syrian government. On December 12th, the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control announced the designation of one entity and three individuals linked to Juan Jose Esparragoza Moreno (a.k.a. On December 13th, the Treasury Department announced the imposition of additional sanctions on Iran's nuclear proliferation networks, targeting international procurement operations of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, the Iran Centrifuge Technology Company, and Iran's uranium enrichment program. Seven companies and five individuals were designated by the Departments of the Treasury and State pursuant to E.O. 13382 because they provide the Iranian government unique goods, technology and services that increase the regime's ability to enrich uranium and/or to construct a heavy water research reactor.
