The Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment has established an expert group to review legislation governing the sale of goods and supply of services. The legislation currently provides the statutory framework for both business to consumer and business to business contracts. The expert group will review legislation including the Sale of Goods Act 1893 and the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1890.

The study will be undertaken in the context of the proposed EU Directive on Consumer Rights. A further objective will be the modernisation and consolidation of law. The Group will prepare an analysis and evaluation of the proposed EU Directive on Consumer Rights in the first quarter of 2009 and is expected to complete its work by mid 2010.
