It was announced today that Jacques Lavoie, Senior General Counsel of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), Canada’s nuclear energy regulator, has been appointed to the role of General Counsel for Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), effective November 3, 2014
ENEC’s groundbreaking nuclear program is the largest new-build nuclear project in the world, with four planned reactors, with the objective of delivering safe, clean and efficient energy to the United Arab Emirates.
With safety as a key objective, ENEC will be well served by Jacques Lavoie. Lavoie has served as senior general counsel to the CNSC for the past six years, and, prior to that, served as general counsel. He has also assisted with legislative and policy development at the International Atomic Energy Agency, and worked closely with the Nuclear Energy Agency and the International Nuclear Law Association.
