On 15 May 2013, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK announced the launch of a thematic review of claims processes for general insurance. The review will be conducted in consultation with firms and consumers and will focus on household and travel insurance claims. Speaking at the annual British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) conference, BIBA's Chief Executive urged the FCA to examine the appropriateness and proportionality of regulation of the general insurance broking sector. Amongst other matters, he emphasised the low risk nature of the sector and criticised the increases in annual regulatory fees.
