Connected Cars & Traffic apps - Watch out! Mexico City issues new Transit Regulations Mexico's Federal District Government has recently adopted new transit regulations, aimed at preventing drivers from using smartphones, screens or other items that may cause distractions while driving. Violations of these rules will result to imposition of fines of up to USD 200 per breach. The new rules may have implications for car manufacturers and application providers which develop software or hardware for connected cars. These companies may need to modify users' Terms and Conditions or include further safeguards and controls at a design stage, in order to create awareness to users and drivers and prevent them from using certain functionalities while the car is in motion. The new regulations will go into effect on 1 January 2016. For more information, please contact Carlos Vela-Trevino.
