The United States Environmental Protection Agency announced last week that it had extended indefinitely the deadline by which major emitters must report their 2010 greenhouse gas emissions.

The reports for 2010, the first reporting year under the new GHG Emission Reporting Program, were originally due by March 31st.

The extension is required in order to give the EPA more time to test a user-friendly reporting tool. The revised deadline is expected to be later in the summer of 2011.
