Due to the natural disasters occurred on September 8 and 19, 2017, Infonavit published in its official website a series of support measures for companies and employees whose address is located in municipalities of Baja California Sur, Chiapas, Estado de México, Guerrero, Morelos, Oaxaca, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave and Mexico City that were declared as affected cities by the Infonavit.
In summary, the support measures for companies are as follows:
- During September, October, November and December 2017, companies will not incur in joint liability in case of not withholding and paying to Infonavit the employees' loans amortizations. As of January 2018, the normal process of withholding and paying amortizations will be resumed.
- Audits performed by Infonavit will be suspended until October 31, 2017, resuming on November 1, 2017.
- Suspension of seizures to companies' bank accounts during tax enforcement procedures, until November 1, 2017.
- The housing contributions that correspond to the Fifth and Sixth Bimester of 2017, will be due on January 17 and March 19, 2018, respectively. Infonavit authorized the payment of housing contributions that correspond to the Fifth and Sixth Bimester in one or more installments, with no surcharges and without being required to submit a payment guarantee. Surcharges and penalties derived from outstanding payments of the referred bimesters will be cancelled.
- These supports will apply only to companies located in the cities that were declared by Infonavit as affected cities, without the need of filing an authorization request to the Infonavit, as long as they have not initiated a legal procedure against tax assessments issued by Infonavit. These benefits do not allow companies to receive a reimbursement or compensation for housing contributions that were paid on time and are additional to those benefits currently in force in accordance to the Debts Regularization Program.
Employees with a house paid through a loan granted by the Infonavit with damages caused by the natural disasters, will receive the following support:
- Active and non-active employees may use their Housing Sub-Account, at no interest, to obtain a loan that will be paid immediately with the balance of their Housing Sub-Account.
- Possibility of obtaining a second housing loan, no need to wait six months from the first one.
- Employees who suffered a total loss of their house, may receive during a period for up to 6 months an extraordinary support to pay a rent for up to $5,000.00 pesos for those living in Mexico City and up to $3,000.00 for those living in the rest of the affected cities, without being required to reimburse that support to the Infonavit.
- Infonavit’s housing loans include property damage insurance that covers up to $10,000.00 pesos; however, those employees that suffered a loss or damage exceeding $10,000.00 pesos, may receive an additional support for up to $10,000.00 pesos.
- These measures will be effective during six months and only apply to the cities of Baja California Sur, Chiapas, Estado de México, Guerrero,Morelos, Oaxaca, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave and Mexico City that were declared as affected cities by Infonavit.
