In the past three months, a senior level delegation headed by ICAC Commissioner Mr Simon Peh Yun-lu has visited officials in the prosecuting bodies in Guangzhou, Beijing, and Macao to explore opportunities for further exchanges and collaboration between the ICAC and these authorities.  At present, there is no treaty or other agreement that provides a framework for mutual legal assistance among these jurisdictions. This means that, amongst other things, there are no formal means to extradite individuals suspected of crimes located in these jurisdictions.  Although there is no concrete timetable for legal reform this visit may lead to increased cooperation among regulators in Greater China.
