Well-known animation studio and its president indicted for tax evasion
A Japanese animation studio and its president have been charged for evading a total of 137 million yen (US$1.24 million) in tax. The animation studio allegedly understated sales at a total of four cafes it operates in Tokyo and Osaka. [9 July 2021]
Revised guidelines for the prevention of bribery of foreign public officials
Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has revised the Guidelines for the Prevention of Bribery of Foreign Public Officials. The revised guidelines encourage companies to prohibit facilitation payments, and provide that the so called "payment to avoid damage to the company or its employees" would no longer be justified under the Unfair Competition Prevention Act.
