The former president of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Mr Mohammed bin Hammam, has been suspended for 30 days after a year long internal audit of AFC accounts revealed “infringements” regarding the “execution of certain contracts” and interference with AFC bank accounts.

Mr bin Hammam, stands accused of bribery, acts of conflict of interest and accepting gifts and benefits.

Last year, Mr Bin Hammam allegedly tried to buy votes in the FIFA presidency election and is currently appealing a lifetime ban from the sport. His case will be reviewed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
