The Commission has issued a Statement of Objections to a number of companies, including British Airways, Air France, KLM and Japan Airlines, for their alleged participation in air-cargo price-fixing. The action follows raids by EU and US officials on the offices of several air-cargo companies in February 2006 and a similar investigation in the US. Lufthansa received immunity from prosecution for being the first airline to co-operate with the authorities. The other companies involved will have the opportunity to put forward a defence.
