The ability of some adults in the UK to trace their biological fathers and half-siblings is under threat.

The Department of Health has decided not to renew funding for the charity UK Donor Link. UK Donor Link maintains a DNA database, allowing those conceived by sperm or egg donation before 1991 (when national records began) to submit a DNA sample for comparison. Funding will end in October and UK Donor Link has stopped accepting new samples. Efforts to secure alternative funding arrangements continue.
