On 28 June 2017, EIOPA published its first set of statistical information on the European insurance industry in relation to Solvency II regulatory reporting. The published statistics contain up-to-date information which provides a comprehensive picture of the European insurance sector and allows for comparisons to be made between markets. The information includes country breakdowns and distributions of key variables.
The statistics are to be published once quarterly. They include aggregated country-level information about the balance sheet, own funds, capital requirements, premiums, claims and expenses based on regulatory reporting of close to 3,000 insurance undertakings operating in Europe.
The scope and level of detail of the statistics will increase over time. The statistics can be accessed via EIOPA's website here.
