An amendment introduced by Sen. Murkowski that would have limited EPA's authority to address GHGs under the Clean Air Act, and which we previously reported on, has been defeated. Senate leaders reached an agreement yesterday to discuss a limited number of amendments to the bill and Sen. Murkowski’s was not one of them. Under the agreement the Senator was allowed to speak for 30 minutes on her amendment. While her amendment was not considered for this legislation, expect the Senator to bring it up for future legislation. Following the floor debate of amendments, the Senate voted 77-21 to approve the EPA fiscal year 2010 spending bill.
