A revised large exposures regime has been included in the amended Capital Requirements Directive. The amendments will have to be transposed into Member States’ national law by 31 October 2010 and will be applied from 31 December 2010.
The Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) has published guidelines on the revised large exposures regime. To ensure harmonised implementation of the revised large exposures regime across Member States, CEBS has published these guidelines where it sees a need for further guidance. The focus of the first part of the guidelines is the definition of 'connected clients', in particular, 'control' and 'economic interconnections'; the second part deals with the treatment of schemes with exposures to underlying assets for large exposure purposes.
