The UK government (Department of Culture, Media and Sport) has invited stakeholders to submit their views on the flexibilities permitted within the GDPR. The consultation will review the scope of derogations within the GDPR where the UK can exercise some discretion over how particular provisions will apply, in light of the limited flexibility under the Regulation. The consultation aims to inform the UK government's derogation policy. Topics of concern include the specific rules regarding DPO's international transfers and certification. As part of the ongoing GDPR practical compliance series, the upcoming edition of Privacy & Data Protection contains expert articles on DPOs and international transfers. The consultation closed on 10 May 2017 and is being analysed for feedback.
Organisations should review any publication released following the outcome of the consultation.
