A property owner was prosecuted after two untrained employees were exposed to asbestos fibres whilst removing rubbish and debris from a site in Newport

An HSE Investigation found that Mr. Nasimul Kabrani held information showing where the asbestos was located and was warned not to carry out the work. Despite this and a complete lack of skills, training or experience in addressing health and safety issues, the work continued.

Mr. Kabrani pled guilty at Abergavenny Magistrates Court to four separate breaches of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and was fined a total of £3,000 and ordered to pay £3,015 in costs.
