On Jan. 5, 2018, The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for nationals of Honduras for six months with a July 5, 2018 expiration date. On May 24, 2108, DHS transmitted a Notice to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) that indicates final action on Honduran TPS will occur soon.

Under a long-standing Executive Order, agencies are required to transmit rules and regulations to OMB for final review as to compliance with many federal laws, rules and standards. There is no deadline for OMB action. Given the subject matter and current trends, persons interested in Honduran TPS should play close attention to OMB action as it could occur very soon.
