The Ministry of Justice has published the latest Tribunal statistics for the period from January to March 2014. The number of single tribunal claims brought in this period is 5,619: 59% lower than the same period in 2013. However, the number of multiple claims (where more than one claimant brings the same claim against an employer) rose to 5,348 (relating to 435 multiple cases).

Although these figures show a substantial decrease in single claims overall, it is a slight rise in the numbers in comparison to the last full quarter since tribunal fees were introduced in July 2013.  The results for September to December 2013 showed a 67% drop in single claims (79% drop for all claims including multiples).

The statistics show that on average, it takes 34 weeks from the start of a single claim to its disposal.
