An increasing number of IP owners are receiving unsolicited and misleading letters from companies requesting payment for Patent, Trade Mark and Design services.

These companies often claim to be associated with offical bodies such as the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) or the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) but please be aware these companies are in no way associated. Official bodies such as the OHIM never send invoices to users or letters requesting direct payment for services.

You can find a list of firms and registers with complaints against them and examples of the letters being sent here.
