Under the rules that entered into force on July 1st the parties are no longer required to notify the transaction as soon as they enter into the final binding agreement. The new rules provide that the transaction can be notified at any time but cannot be implemented before being cleared by the Norwegian authority. However, local thresholds remain low: a filing is required in Norway if the parties’ combined revenues in Norway are at least NOK 50 million (around e6.2 million) and if each of at least two of the parties has revenues in Norway exceeding NOK 20 million (around e2.5 million).
